Since we were all the way on the west side of England, we had no excuse not to visit their second biggest tourist attraction, Stonehenge (the first apparently being David Beckham's house!). So we booked with a half-day guided bus tour called Mad Max Tours the day of and met near the Bath Abbey. The people joining us on the tour came from all over (Italy, Hong Kong, Czech Republic, Hawaii, Miami and Serbia to name a few) and the driver was a chap named Gary who lived in Bath. He was a hilarious guy and turned out to be a fantastic guide. Our first stop was a charming little town called Lacock Village which has been the set for movies like Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice! We took a stroll around while he guided us, showing us a couple of the spots. Their annual scarecrow festival was going on and the theme was musicals so all over there was scarecrows dressed up like Dorthy or characters from various other shows. Then we were off again and along the way we got to see some thatched roof houses that are always associated with England. We finally made it to Stonehenge which was an incredible sight. Everyone gets a little audioguide to listen to as you walk around the sight, giving you information about the history and construction of the site. It's so remarkable that 5000 years ago they were able to build something as remarkable as this! We returned to Bath in time to see part of the Manchester United vs Barcelona game at a local pub which was an experience in itself. So at our hostel we happened to be put in a 12 bed dorm with 9 girls who were going to their friend's hen party (or bachelorette party as we call it in the states). We came back to the dorm trashed with alcohol, candy, glow sticks and various firefighter related costume accessories (the groom is a firefighter). Apparently they had a stripper come up to the room when we were gone too! We went to bed early cause we had to catch an early bus back to London and they came back at some early hour of the night, waking up everybody (which was me and my mom and two Australian girls we met earlier in the evening). Quite an interesting night to end our trip to Bath on!
