When I woke up this morning, the house was empty so I got ready and made myself breakfast and then walked down to the T-Bane station. The ticket machine was out of order so I had to go find another station down the track before I could get on. By this time it was already 1 and the kids we're getting out of school. They don't have any school buses so all of the kids ride the T-Bane to school and back so the train was filled up with middleschoolers on the way to downtown. The first place I had on my agenda was the Nobel Peace Center. Every year the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo so this museum houses exhibits on all of the laureates and its founder, Alfred Nobel. It was fascinating reading about all of the winners for the past 100+ years and I ended up spending about 2 hours there. Of course, in 2009 it was awarded to Obama and the tour guide said he is the most famous of all the recipients. Other winners include Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Theresa, Al Gore, the 13th Dalai Lama, Theodore Roosevelt and foundations like the Red Cross and Amnesty International. After learning about these incredible people, I went to Akershus Fortress again and walked around inside the grounds and saw Akershus Castle. From there, I wandered around downtown for awhile, munching on a bag of Norwegian candy. Then I hopped on the T-Bane up to Frognerparken and it's central walkway, Vigeland Park. One of the oddest sights I've seen on my trip so far, the walkway is lined with fountains and over 200 naked statues leading up to a huge monolith. It is one of Oslo's biggest attractions, drawing over 1 million visitors each year and it really is something that you have to see if you come here. I walked through the park and then rode the T-Bane back up to their house just in time to have dinner with the family and meet Anne Christine's husband, Lasse. Camilla, Petter and I watched a movie afterwards and then we called it a night!

Heather You would never learn all that you have in the past few days in school! The pictures are really beautiful! I do love the naked statues they resemble some family members! Do we have Norwegian blood?
