Up at 5am for a 5:25 start, just like a Monday working in Ireland! Cast off and motored to the exit of the harbour only for the bows to suddenly lower and for us to come to a stop. We had run aground. Reversing did not do any good. Just as I was beginning to think we might have to wait for the tide to rise, I managed to spin Javelin round and get off the shallow spot. A couple more groundings and we were out of the harbour. Full sails up, we were goose winged all the way. Slowly the wind built to a force 6, so reefing was required. As we approached the French coast the waves became rough as we had strong wind over tide and a couple broke over the back of Javelin before we made it into the calm of the river. We sailed all the way up the river still in a force 5.
Diane made another delicious dinner from her one pot cook book. I feel this should be mandatory for RBYC future trips.

Neil Dunnet Great to follow your progress Peter. We loved Guernsey on Purple Mist last week. Wish you all good sailing ahead.
