Day 28
Got the Boat over to Langkawi today, takes 3 hours which we were supprised about because we imagined it was a lot closer. Langkawi is beautiful, you can tell as soon as you get into the port. Langkawi is Malaysia's most popular holiday destination and therefore is more expensive compared with other parts of Malaysia. Food and drink in particular costs more so we have booked into a self catering resort that has a comunal kitchen stocked with fresh bread, eggs, tea and coffee. There is cooker and fridge that guests can use so we'll save our self some money this way :) Having Said that, Langkawi is a duty free island so i'm sure we'll get some x mas shopping done ha,ha.
Day 29 & 30
Its been great making our own breakfast and lunch, we have never eaten so many different varieties of egg in such a short space of time.. We've saved ourselves a small fortune. It is very very hot here so we've not been spending too long in the sun, just the odd stint on the beach. The beach closest to our accomodation is situated on a quieter beach shared only with 2 other resorts so very nice and quiet, seen some amazing sunsets. Although it has been exteremly hot during the day, we have seen 2 huge thunderstorms in the evening and yesterday it must have been right above where we were staying as it was so load, at one point the power was cut off and we were left in complete darkness for about 20 minutes.
Had a nice day today, we spent the morning on the beach. Then took a taxi to the northern part of the island where there is an 'Oriental Village' with lots of small shops and restaurants, but the biggest attraction there is the cable car that takes you into the mountains. When we first got on we thought it would simply take us up and then straight down again, but there a 2 different stopping points where you get off onto viewing platforms to take photos and admire the view. They also had an extended bridge which was a bit scary to walk accross as it was so high (approx 700 meters above sea level) but very fun to do. Got some great pictures up there, and we were reletively lucky with the weather! Wouldn't like to be stuck up there in one of their storms!
Day 31 (1st Dec)
Cant beleive it is December already and weve been away for a whole month! It is going so quick but we have already done so much. In celebration of our 1 month we spent the whole day on the beach doing absolutely nothing. It was much cooler today, which is nicer when your are lying on the beach as the last couple of days were, dare we say, almost too hot. Off to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, really excited about that as there is so much we plan on seeing. We are flying with AirAsia direct from Langkawi. We orignally planned to get the ferry back to mainland Malaysia and then a bus down but we found a cheap flight on AirAsia, we payed about £50 for both of us which was basically the same as if we were to have got the ferry and bus anyway.. and so much less hassle and time!
