Today was Australia Day and we celebrated with vegemite on toast! Today was also Game Day!!! Up early again to head to Etosha national park to go wildlife spotting. We stopped for supplies at Akaukueio, had a coffee and did a bit of shopping. After only traveling a total of 300km we arrived at Etosha, 20,000 sq kilometres of protected land, including camping areas and other types of accommodation. We set up camp and had lunch, then relaxed in the pool. In the afternoon we headed out on a game drive to look for animals. Our first encounter was with a giraffe, and during the drive we also spotted springbok, wilder-beast, oryx, jackals, zebras, striped ground squirrels. After getting back we had a traditional BBQ to celebrate Australia Day, and after dark walked to the nearby watering hole and saw a rhino come out of the bush to drink. Ready for some elephants and lions tomorrow!!!!
