Arrived in Sydney via the harbour bridge and opera house, quite an ampressive sight! Decided to stay at Bondi for the first few days. Stayed at the backpackers we are booked in to for Christmas, not such a great idea! Not a very clean place, we'll be getting the hoover out ourselves if we are staying there for the festive period! Unfortunately Karen also picked up some unwanted bugs, the owners say fleas we say bed bugs! Anyhow, had a great weekend. Hardly went further than Bondi. Met up with Jim and Fergal and their friends and they showed us the inside of a few Irish drinking holes. Went to a pub called the tea gardens which was full of irish and absolutely jumping. Didn't even laze about on the beach that much. Fergal was our tour guide and showed us how to get about, into the city and some good places to go. Moved into the city and stayed at Maze backpackers. Met up with Peco from home which was really nice. Finally made it down to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House thanks to Fergal. Went at night so it was a pretty cool place with the lights of the city. Decided it was time to get a job so busy busy writing my CV, felt as though I was never out of the internet cafe. handed out a few copies to some shops looking for casual christmas workers (just what i want) and signed up with a child care agency too. Karen managed to get a job in teh Edinburgh Castle Bar Hotel waitressing. Not sure I like all the time I am having to myself while she is working. Hopefully i'll have a job soon. Walked from bondi to Coogee at the weekend, there was something called Sculptures by the Sea on, lots of modern art! Also met up with a friend of Karen's from home. Went to Paddy's market to contemplate buying Christmas presents....a thought! Lots of tacky souvenirs...boomerangs heading your way!
