Da Lat is a smallish city in the mountains where the local produce seems to specialize in strawberries, avocados, artichokes, flowers, dried fruit and amazing coffee. We have no idea why the locally grown coffee isn't exported all over the world, it's really top notch.
In the centre of town there is a large market selling all of the above, with the usual array of vegetables and tropical fruits. The dried fruit stalls have fruits and vegetables that we couldn't identify with flavors like ginger and chili. All of the stalls had a big selection of samples which you couldn't pass without them insisting you at least try the mango options or the sweet strawberries.
Outside of the markets motor bike riders try and sell you "Easy Rider" tours of the local mountains, waterfalls and minority villages for a very high price. Alternatively you can rent a bicycle for $2 AUD and see them yourself - or so we thought. Instead of visiting some waterfalls we ended up in hospital where Sonja had to get four stitches in her chin after crashing off her bike into a motorbike. Luckily the damage was minor!

peter After about 10 weeks overseas and 4 stitches later I calculate you will both make it back alive. So thats a good thing.
