We spent a couple of days in Saigon where we explored the city, checked out the nightlife, visited the Mekong Delta, walked through fruit plantations and saw a few produce workshops.
Saigon is large and bustling, with very busy traffic, most people ride motorbikes around so there doesn't seem to be any lanes - everyone just crams in at traffic lights wherever they can fit. Having said that, they seem to follow most road rules here which is more than can be said for a lot of places we've been.
The pub scene is the most interesting thing we found about Saigon. A large number of people cram into a few very small street side "bars" (if you can call them that) with as many tiny plastic chairs squeezed on the side of the road as they can manage. Everyone (ourselves included) seems to enjoy being packed in like sardines and drinking beers worth about $0.40 USD while being regularly hassled by touts selling paintings, cigarettes and books. It's actually quite a social affair as everyone's practically sitting on top of one another so you have no choice but to talk to them and meet people from all over the globe.
