Happy Australia Day. We woke up and got ready for Coober Pedy Australia Day celebrations. When we arrived at the old timers mine {which is where it was held} we got some showbags. In the showbags were 2 flags, another gigantic flag, a balloon, a big pencil, a small stationary set, a wallet, a hat, a badge, some stickers, a lanyard and some tatoos all for free. This morning we hopped on a tour bus and visited lots of interesting sites in Coober Pedy - an underground Church, a dirt golf course, dugout houses in the hills and an underground mine.  We learnt about the water treatment plant.  In the afternoon we noodled for some opals and had a little bit of luck in finding a few small ones.

We packed up early and headed off to Coober Pedy 540km down the road with a few small towns in between.  We saw lots of long trains. The most unusual thing about today was that we had a swim in a pool inside a water tank.
