Well the day is finally here so I thought I'd start off this blog! I'm not very good at this kind of thing, but I guess I should get used to it. I'm leaving the house in a couple of hours and we're flying overnight for our first stop - Bangkok.

After all these years of wanting to go, and twelve months of planning, it still doesn't feel real for me! I think that once we say goodbye at Heathrow and the Mums are in tears it will hit us for real! Then once we touch down in Bangkok we will realise that we are finally living our dream!

I know that I can speak on behalf of Sean when I say this - our emotions are mixed right now, we cannot wait to get out there and begin our adventure, experience new things, meet new people, make lifelong friends, immerse ourselves in different cultures, but at the same time we will miss our family and friends more than we can say! I know that we will be the ones out there experiencing amazing things, but it won't stop us missing and thinking of each and every one of you!

Anyway, there's not much else to say for now except farewell! We'll be in touch soon.

She does speak for me, and never before has it been more true that you don't miss what you've got till it's gone.

I know this is going to make me sound like a bit of a doucher, given that all most people have got on tomorrow is work and we're off to see the world, but when I think of how long a year is, I'm genuinely sad to be leaving all you beautiful people behind. I think about all the friends and family that make this little island 'home' and I wish I could take you all with me. Then I remember all the awesome things we have planned and I get over it, takes me like a half hour tops.

Right then, off to the airport in a bit to kick off this crazy journey, here's hoping that Quantas have plenty of those little whisky bottles and something decent to watch... just checked, apparently it's Hot Tub Time Machine - for f*cks sake!
