DAY 31 - 43 16 - 28 OCTOBER DOCTORS, DOCTORS & MORE DOCTORS
After a weekend of sleeping and both continuing to feel sorry for ourselves the first of many visits to the doctors approached. To say the first doctor was useless is an understatement, he literally gave me more drugs and told us to leave as he had other patients. Well so much for thinking I would feel better for going to see a doctor on the NHS and getting my questions answered! Luckily over the space of ten days or so I had the opportunity to see other more competent doctors!
We hit another wall, when the drugs I'd been prescribed decided not to agree with my body and I came out in a big allergic reaction to them! There wasn't an inch of my body that wasn't covered in a ridiculously itchy rash! Lucky that we weren't in Vietnam at this stage. Another doctors visit beckoned.
They changed my drugs and now, ten days after the rash began it is no longer itchy and starting to leave my body. I still look like some kid has covered me in felt tip, or I've had too much sun (if only) but its improving. The glands are also going down and the eyes becoming less itchy. There have been days that I've felt rubbish, and just needed to sleep on and off all day but now my body feels more human and is starting to feel like it belongs to me again! I've even managed to get out to places other than the doctors, yes it may just be town or friends houses but it's out of the house and is building my strength up ready to return to the backpacker trail (hopefully in the not too distant future)!
Thanks to everyone for all of your messages, emails, phone calls and support during this time! As much as it sucked to have to come home it was good to have you all around to perk me up. xx
