Prague, what an amazing city, the capital of Bohemia -- each building is more beautiful and ornate than the next! How did they do it? Why did they do it? I see people rushing around working, shopping, relaxing, dining, caring for children and of course, the inevitable throngs of tourists, and we all look like modern day people simply dropped down into an old world setting. There is a modern side to Prague, but who wants to see it when there is so much history and beauty in the old town.
Before I get too wound up, we want to send thanks to you who have left a message on this site in response to our updates -- we love hearing from you. It warms our heart! We love and miss you all! Thanks for taking time to join us.
OK, I admit it, keeping up with this blog is much harder than I expected, and the website sometimes is not so cooperative. I've managed to up upload all the pictures, add captions -- I have found that I must do that right away or else forget what we saw. So . . I will try to catch up on writing now to cover the last three days through today, August 24. I am hoping the pictures tell more about what we've seen and experienced than a long boring narrative.
First, let me say, it's beautiful. The weather is hot, hot, hot, and the food is REALLY good -- it's like your grandmother's cooking. Beer is cheaper than water so, guess what, we are developing a taste for it!!
In short, we have spent the last three days walking, walking, walking. We have thoroughly explored the Prague Castle, its grounds and surrounding royal neighborhoods and monastery. We found the big outdoor market for locals, found the best supermarket for basic food items and wine, walked until our feet swell and ache, and did the river tour! Stan finally got to have strudel on the river cruise, ----- and sausage, and chicken, and wieners. I didn't eat anything. :-) Yeah right!
Tomorrow, we will do Prague by tram.
