Hello friends and family!
Thanks for joining us as we plan and launch our trip through Europe. This is our "retirement" trip, but if we are really lucky, it will be just one of many trips and adventures we'll cook up in the years to come. Stan and I love to travel. Hopefully this blog will let you enjoy it along with us and also provide a bit of insight as to what we like to do and why we find travel so exciting.
As we begin our trip you will note that aside from plane or train, Stan and I get around only by foot, bicycles or public transportation. While we could choose to drive, we find we more fully enjoy the locale and the people when we are out & about and not behind the wheel. Therefore we generally chose places to visit that do not require a car. We also like to rent accommodations from individual owners -- very easy to do with great sites like VRBO.com, homeaway.com and ownerdirect.com. The downside to this approach is that working out all the details takes TIME! But the work is finished at last, and we are ready to go! All in all, over the 7-week period, we will travel from Atlanta to Paris, and on to Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Prague, Naples, the Greek Isles, Florence, Brussels, Dublin, Edinburg, London and Brighton. Bear with us and laugh with us as we hope to have the time of our lives!

re: Yes, 1899!Michael What a lovely blog and a lovely trip. I felt that I was with you the whole way. You deserve all "the luck" and you and I both know it was hard work, good health habits, and great planning that got you there :) The block of flats behind you in the photo of the beach huts is Courtney Gate, where I used to live. How weird you wound up there. I worked on the Palace Pier in security and also in the arcade there. Happy trails home and I look forward to seeing you both soon. Hugs
