Hey!
The canadians let me over the border even with my American flu, yay! I have truly entered Canada, it's freezing!! Well it's 9degrees, but that's not what I signed on for! The winds are mental, now I may be lying but I think the weather channel said they are 60km/hr, either way it's fast and cold! And packing a bag in June for central America does not prepare you for October in Canada! Needless to say, I didn't do much walking around Toronto
I went up the CN tower. The worlds tallest tower for 34 years until Dubai built one in 2010! It's a little unnerving going up. Unlike other towers I've gone up (except the Eiffel tower, but that's not so high), the lift is on the outside.. With a glass bottom! I was a little nervous, Grannie would have been screaming! You can pay to go to the observation deck, or you can pay a bit more to go to the very top in the sky pod. It's lucky I paid the bit extra because the observation deck only gives a view of one side. It's more strange being so high up in a city like Toronto where there aren't that many skyscrapers. The other buildings are much smaller, so the tower feels even higher. There was a simulator ride at the bottom included in my ticket, but it was no Harry Potter land, just saying. Now the CN tower looks great, especially when they light it up at night, but all these towers like the seattle space needle aren't that pretty, and kind of remind me of St Johns tower in Liverpool, hmmm.
As I said the wind was getting to me and I felt a bit crumby so I spent the afternoon in bed. It was a shame because I wanted to go to see the ice hockey game, bit oh well. I tried to go out for drinks that night, but wasn't on top of my game unfortunately. Just as well I got some sleep because I had Niagara falls the next day!!!
We started off the trip in an ice winery, some more wine tasting:) this time they told us how to taste it properly, but I still do get it. Apparently she said you smell it to see if it's off, but she's obviously never been a student. We then went to a little town called niagara on the lake. It's what you imagine a perfect town to look like. It was a little street with cute little boutique shops in gorgeous old style buildings. Mum would love it! There were two theatres and everyone was queuing up to to in, because that must be the thing to do on a Sunday afternoon, or the only thing. All the houses were mansions, and every house was different from the next. They were all so neat, not a lead was out of place. After the town we went to see the Niagara whirlpool. It's considered to be one of the most dangerous rapids in the world and no boats are allowed on, except some jet boat they have that can handle it. I think they said the water was going about 40km/hr.
Then onto the maid of the mist. They give you some beautiful blue ponchos before you get on, and you do get drenched. Although it was hard to tell whether it was most from the waterfall or rain. I couldn't hear the speaker giving a narration because the wind was just so strong. I heard a snippet about a 7 year old boy who fell over the fall and was then rescued alive by the maid in the mist boat! But then the woman sitting next to me on the bus said not so long back a Chinese girl fell off the boat itself and drowned, eeek! It was scary when the boat was getting knocked about. It's amazing how close the boat gets to the waterfall. We go past the American falls and then right into the horseshoe of Niagara. I managed to stay fairly dry with my poncho, except my face, and I forgot about my make up so I was walkig around the gift shop after with panda eyes haha!
It's been a long day, I'm exhausted, so as all cool kids do I'm going to bed at 9pm:)
Night night xXx
