We are anchored in a beautiful bay just north of the main town of Gaios. There is no wind and it is hot. We anchored here in early July but now there are so many boats it was hard to find room.
We decide to see Gaios town. Andy wants to ride. He thinks it is about 5 Kms, so we take him to the beach. We go by tender to town. Wandering around Jo and JB are a disaster. Jo is a bad influence on Janet in the shopping department. The rest of us just enjoy the small town with narrow streets and good food shops.
It is very hot, we have found a bar for juice and beer. Andy shows up absolutely exhausted. He took a wrong turn and travelled twice his nominated distance with some really steep hills.
Back on BP we bring out 'air head' our donut pulled behind the jet ski which produces some high speed thrills. Everyone wants a go and Captain Paul wins the speed record.
Tuesday 7th, MB up early to go to the fish market. It is supposed to be at 7.30am but when we get to town it is almost deserted and the fish shop not open. A Local advises us it may open in 45 minutes or not at all. With Paul we search the Harbour for some activity,we almost give up when we spot a fishing trawler with men in aprons. They have fish but insist we go to the shop in a while. We follow them and find a large crowd already waiting at the shop. The first customer we thought was going to buy the whole catch. We pushed to the front to get served. We buy Grouper cutlets, small calamari, prawns, sardines and Mackeral .
JB and Mick using their recent cooking knowledge prepare a Sicilian Ravioli, fish and salad lunch, which is voted delicious.
We play six hand cannaster after lunch playing all afternoon. We needed some exercise so Peter, Andy, JB and Mick walk 7kms to town. It is very demanding with the first part up very steep paths about 2kms in the heat. We arrive in town very sweaty and enjoy an icy cold beer.
We finish our cannasta match with Peter, Andy and JB winning in a very thrilling finish.
Dinner on board with BBQ grouper cutlets and the daily quiz. Tonight is film night with Bobby Jones story.
