The flight to Broome from Darwin was cool. I had a window seat so could see for miles. The plane wasn't full which made it easy to check out the view from the other side of the plane. I took some cool videos which I will upload when I can compress them. They are too large and I haven't the software to make them smaller on my Netbook.
What an amazing coastline. Just wide open spaces with an occasional house every few hundred miles. Sometimes there would be a road or two. Really just the highway and a few tracks. The Airnorth flight touched down in Kunnanurra to drop off and pick up some extra passengers bound for Broome.
The Ord river is huge. The vast area of irrigation land that it supports looks beautiful from the air and is in sharp contrast to the wildnerness and mountains that surround. I was in awe of the view. The mountain ranges looked spectacular with rivers meandering in between. It will be interesting to explore some of the gorges that we saw when we return to Emma Gorge at El Questro.
It didn't take too long to arrive in Broome. First impressions are it is so spread out. Cable Beach Sanctuary Resort (see photo) had a taxi there to pick us up which was great. Our accomodation for the night is so beautiful. We immediately went for a swim in the pool because it is sooooo hot!!. We will have to live it up while we can as tomorrow we will move to 4 nights at the Roebuck Beach Caravan Park. No one has said anything about the $33 booking I made. It is all above board and I have the Qantas receipt so it should be their loss and my gain. If they failed to add an extra 0 to the end then they need to get it right next time.
We have no car but they do have e-bikes for hire. I think they are Apollos just like mine at Gemini. The beach and the restaurants are about a 1km walk away. We are having a well earned rest while it is hot and will venture out a little later when it cools down. Luckily there is a washing machine and dryer in the unit so time to catch up on some housework. There is a 2hr time difference here from home. It may take a few days to catch up on that sleep.
