Because getting messages is like getting post..........
....remember that won't you when you've returned home!
Just got back from watching Australia and thought over how many people I know who've managed to get there in the last six months. It's crazy. At the weekend I have my end of placement camp, which I'm not looking forward to as I didn't much like the introductory one....., then a couple more weeks at work....and then. Who knows what'll happen then? I think I'm going to pick top three places to go to in Mexico before going back into Guatemala, quick language brush up there, maybe some more volunteering, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad, Guyana. Easy. Though that's a helluva lot of chicken buses to catch.
We'll see how it goes. All the best for the last leg! xxxx
Haven't been on here in a while! Hope Fiji continues to be beautiful, even if it is so remote that we only get the odd text here and there! I have to say Rois, you are talented at getting everything into one text msg!! No news with me, I wasn't very well over the weekend so not the greatest start to the new year!
We had a great time up at mum and dad's - did very little (think I ventured out of the house a total of 2 times in 5 days!!) Lots of good food, company and wine! And we were very spoilt as always with presents.
New Year was refined by my standards - we had a lovely dinner round at Alex and James', toasted our achievements from 2008, our hopes for 2009, and loved ones that weren't with us, danced around the living room, watched the fireworks on tv, and I was in bed by 1am - I heeded your advice Rois, and took it easy, and I wasn't hungover for the start of 2009!
Anyway, that's enough from me!
Take care, miss you very very much, Love you x

Hello James,
Wishing you a very Happy New Year - just had a look through another set of your wonderful pictures.......so very jealous!
Glad to see that you have both made the most of every moment you have had. Just think of the memories you will both be able to share!
Continue to enjoy the amazing journey and best wishes for 2009!
I can confirm the office has not changed in any way - so you haven't missed much!!!

Hello and a very Happy New Year to you both.
Christmas wasn't great for the Hornets...we were dire against Bristol City on Boxing Day, one down after 23 secs...I think some of the Watford defenders had eaten too many cheap chocolates from Woolworths on Chrsitmas Day!!!
We did grab a useful point at QPR two days later but it was poor stuff....Helguson just signed for QPR on a two year deal missed an open goal..it looked like he didn't want to score?
Got two young lads on loan Jack Cork from Chelsea and Gavin Hoyte from Arsenal some more to follow by all accounts...Kabba is back from his loan at Blackpool.
Beat Scunthorpe 1-0 in FA Cup on Sat either Palace or Leicester home in Round 4.
Next up Friday 9th January away at Reading live on Sky 20:00hrs (GMT).
Finally there is talk Sir Elton is heading back to The Vic he has been speaking with Buck on the phone during the last two weeks and has met the players and staff.. watch this space.
Take Care, Lee

Dear Both
Great to get the message and to know you are well and happy still. Granny got your Christmas card and is sending our one on to us, so thank you in advance. We're all back in harness now so the new year is all ahead. It's very cold here and Dad's going out on foraging expeditions to find wood for the fire! We leave him to it and try to ignore the long branches around the drive and garage! All sent their good wishes at New Year and Colin and Tessa too. We played cards and had a drink with them last weekend - they're well and looking forward to their Caribbean cruise at the start of Feb - lucky things! I could do that sitting by the pool in the sun thing at the moment! It's probably quite like what you're doing theses days!
Talk soon and hugely looking forward to NY.
All love to you both - Mum/Bernie

Thanks for the update Malachy and Oonagh - I did send a text at midday our time on new years eve as I think that was their midnight but sent it to Rois' Australian number and I don't think they're using that anymore? I don't know!
Well J&R when you do get to read this, hope you're stay in Fiji was fun and that you've arrived safe and sound in the US. NYE at Harriet's was really nice - just me, B, D, H and A but was lovely to see them all, even if the boiler was broken and it was freezing! We made travel plans; Barcelona in Feb so you'll just miss that one but Valencia in May/June/July time so you so can jump on that band wagon. Then of course there's our group holiday which IS going to happen. As you can read above I did attempt to wish you Happy New Years at the appropriate time but I imagine I failed but hey the thought was there.
I'm back in Valencia as of yesterday (the 3rd) not looking forward to going back to work, but then who does? It's a bit stressful at the moment as one of my housemates is moving out on the 15th and if we don't find someone before then we have to cover her rent. fingers crossed. I also have too many travel plans for the amount of money I'm earning so I need to do find some more work, whether it be teaching or not I don't know.

For regular visitors to the message board, just want to let you all know that Roisin and James are safe and well and enjoying the new year in Fiji. They have no access to the internet, and very limited signal for mobile phone, but we have managed to get a couple of text messages from them - one on 31st Dec and another just an hour ago tonight. Not sure if they will get on the website while in Fiji but I know they will love getting all your messages when they do catch up. They are due to fly from Fiji to Los Angeles on 12th Jan.
Happy New Year to all!
