Melbourne (05.08.2012): What a frantic morning. We awoke at 6am to give us enough time to pack and clean the camper inside and out - avoiding the 200 dollar cleaning charge! Cleaning without access to any cleaning supplies is pretty hard work as was the packing - we have accumulated lots of stuff again. I am not sure what but with having the camper I guess we just didn't notice. Our bags are just as heavy as when we started, eek. My new granddad jumper will not fit in.

We had fun at the self cleaning car wash getting water and soap suds everywhere. Finally, wet through but with a clean camper we headed to St. Kilda for 10am to hand back the van. We managed to get our deposit back, phew! We felt lost when we stood on the road with our backpacks on for the first time in 3 weeks. We managed to navigate ourselves to the tram stop and caught the tram into the centre of Melbourne checking into the Space Hotel. We have a great bunk room with a TV and have managed to catch some of the Olympics. It is a shame we are missing all the action!

We spent the day looking around Melbourne starting with the tour on the free city sightseeing tram. We both love Melbourne and would live here. It is awesome city with so much to see and do. Extremely modern and clean. We sure wish we had longer than one day here. We managed to tour the main sights, have a browse round the shops and ended up in the Crown Casino in the evening (Australia's largest Casino). The casino was huge and it definitely felt like Vegas. We set ourselves a 10 dollar limit and managed to have a fair bit of fun on it before heading back to the hotel and repacking for our flight tomorrow.

I definitely want to return to Melbourne one day!
