Sukhothai Day 2 (19.06.2012): Today we started with a lovely breakfast at 'Thai Thai'. What a great start. We hired bicycles and headed for the historical park. The park is an ancient capital of Thailand and contains ruins of temples from the 12th and 13th century. It is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
We cycled around the park all day visiting the central, north and west zones which all contained various temples. We stopped for lunch at an amazing Thai shack where we were treated like royalty by the owners who mustn't get much custom. They made us delicious food (costing £1 with a drink) and gave us a gift when we left (a wooden fish brooch which we were told stands for health). How lovely!
Now with tired legs, a bit of sunburn and lots of insect bites we have returned to our lovely bungalow for a bit of chill time before we will head out for a nice meal at a restaurant next door. It is our last night with Mr G and our second to last night in Thailand! Sad times. Time is flying by.
Malaria tablets taken and now swotting on the Cambodian border advice.
We will be convening at Mr G's terrace later for beers and to toast a great time in Thailand.
