Our first Thursday night! TGIT! Holy day is Friday so the work-week goes Sunday to Thursday. We loaded up the car and headed to "Souk Street" in the Seeb district. The street is about 9 blocks long and has many brightly lit storefronts to shop in and many restaurants to try authentic food. We ate dinner at the New Tasty out on the patio and then found a bakery to buy some Omani sweets to take home for the week. Layla is bugging us about finding a Henna parlour; perhaps tomorrow at the Matra Souk we will be able to find something she can try. After our visit to Souk Street it was back in the car for a hair-raising drive back home. The drivers here like to go fast…really fast! The roundabouts are interesting to say the least and the people on bicycles in the dark don't help. Your car horn is your best friend. Luckily it is illegal to show aggression or outward bursts of emotion so even though they honk at you, they still pass you and smile or wave. It's quite refreshing as a 'tourist'.
