Jacq gets up to head to the post office and send on our boxes - Kathy drops her in then brings us both to the airport - off to NZ we go! Bye Porters!
The flight is fine just 3.5 hours, we're wrecked and snooze most of it. When we arrive we check prices for a cab to our hotel it's $30, but the driver suggests we walk saying it's only 10 mins. One thing we've learnt is Aussie and now NZ versions of "round the corner" and "just a short walk" are nothing like that - best to add a mile or two to avoid disappointment, having just landed in NZ we don't yet realise they are the same.
We walk 20 mins, shattered with two backpacks, a heavily packed guitar case and 2 litres of booze night at duty free for half the price of off-licenses over here. Jacq gives in and asks a lady parked up if she knows Roydvale Street where the M & Y hotel is - she does and tells us to jump in she's goin that way and trusts we aren't weirdos - her fathers from Belfast! Tracy drops us at the door and we check into our clean room deciding not to unpack as we have a camper to pick up in the morning so we head to a fish and chip shop for dinner. Matt's disappointed, it's pure grease ridden and he drops his food - tiredness strikes, Jacq tries not to laugh.
