Fear and Loathing in Latin America
I can rest easy now I know why Cali was so quiet; it was a five day weekend in Colombia and most people left the city for the country and the small town of Salento. The town, with it´s colourful buildings, horses roaming the streets and old western style saloons seems like something out of a Garcia Marquez book.
As the main hostel was full, I checked in to a small guesthouse run by an old woman with many cats. Probably being the first visitor in ages, she treated me with more food than I could manage yet was unable to refuse. After a few hours being fattened up, some more guests turned up and we went out for a bit to the fiesta in town, mostly sitting in a bar with men dressed as cowboys.
