Hey people! Just got to cairns last night after a great 10 days tour to alice springs and a 2hr flight.
Day 1: Nice early morning, we were picked up at 6:30 to head for Adelaide. Our first stop was at Torquay for breakfast and some outlet surf shops, tally loved that ha! Then stopped at bells beach for a quick look before starting The Great Ocean Road!!! We had a couple of stops along the way to see some great senic views and to see some koalas and i had a pet parrot for a while! Had lunch at Apollo Bay then hit the road again, Went into the forest to do the Otway tree top walk. After that we went to Princetown to find our accomadation, the town had a population of 15 poeple! Had a BBQ then went to watch the sunset over the 12 Apostles.
Day 2: Early morning to go see the 12 Apostles agina then carried on down the great ocean road stopping to see some more limestone formations including London bridge and the Lock ard gorge. Then had a long drive into the Grampians where we did our first trek up The Pinnicalle for some well good views over the Grampians. Went back down to our accomadation and went to check out the wild kangaroos living behind us!!
Day 3: We start to head for Adelaide but stopped to have a look at McKenzie Falls and to climb the Hollow Mountain which was pretty cool, it was basiacly a climb not walk! The rest of the day was mainly driving and arrived in Adelaide that evening for dinner and a couple of drinks with our new friends we made on the tour so far.
Day 4: This was a free day in Adelaide, we went to see some of tallys relatives which was cool and a bit deffierent to what we have been doing. Got a free apple pie at the hostel ha! Had an early night as we had to get up at 5:30 the next morning.
Day 5: Left for Quorn today with a new group of people and drove all morning to our new accomadation. Had some really good home made chicken wraps for luch then went off for a 10km hike up a mountain in Flinders Ranges. That night we had a very good aussie barbie. On the menu were emu burgers, camel sausages and kangaroo steak! All very nice and had a new invention of hot camel dogs, long story haha. Watched finding nemo!
Day 6: Drove to anotehr mountain and had a walk along the creek to Wilpena Pound then had anotehr BBQ in the forest with wild kangaroos that we coukld stroke and feed them.
Day 7: Another long drive to Cooebr Pedy which is an underground town stopping at a huge salt lake. We had a tour of the Opal mine and the history of the town then went noodling to find our own. I got one that wasnt too bad! Then found our underground bunkhouse that was built into the side of of hill and had an international underground football match, England vs France with England winning 5-4!! Then went out for pizza and to an underground bar.
Day 8: On the road again this time heading for Uluru. Arrived and set up our camp before heading the the big rock for sunset and champagne!! Very cool!! That night we stayed out side under the beautiful stars in a swag.
Day 9: Woken up by dingos hawling aah! Then went back to Uluru for sunrise and a walk around it. Had a look in the cultural center and learnt a bit about the history of the aboriganals then went to the Kata tjula. Drove to Kings Canyon and had anotehr night under the stars in our swags!
Day 10: last day of the tour!! we walked up and round Kings canyon then got left to fend for ourselves at our hostel in Alice Springs! We met some really graet guys on the tour and had loads of fun, that night we went out to dinner with everyone.
On friday we did nothing! Slept in and chilled out at our pool then went our for a farwell meal and a few drinks with our friends again. and yesterday we flew out to Cairns.
Earlier today we booked all our activities for the next 2 months! We have planned; skydive, bungey jump, minjin swing, skorkelling trip, scuba diving course, kayaking with dolphins, sailing around whitsunday islands and a 4x4 trip round fraser island!! Cant wait its guna be soo good!!
Anyway, we have 3 months to get down the coast and back to sydney. heading for Misson Beach in the next week so will let you know what i been up to soon :) :) :) !!!!
