Our lay day in Cape Town was again a sad one. We had to say goodbye not only to Thea with our early morning chats over tea, amazing food, great company and homely welcomes, but to everyone else we had met. I shall miss Thea a lot and will hopefully see her in England next year.
Maureen and Christo had been just great to us. They would pick us up and take us to shopping centres for a walk and an ice cream, followed after by a stunning food and friendly chats. They would do anything for us when we were there, and I would love to do the same for them one day when they visit me at home.
Jessie and Darren were a great pair to be around during those nights with Maureen and Christo.
Danie, who was our personal tour guide and great friend that showed us parts of Cape Town that wouldn't be accessible or as fun without him. He took us to two Stormers rugby games, which convinced me to buy a shirt and turn into a official supporter, rugby with a Brai and friends, what more could you want!?! Onka, who was the perfect hostess with her brandy and welcoming charm.
Some of my fondest moments of Cape Town were spent with the people we met, and made it an extra special experience. Jessie's friends are a great bunch of people, and having met them only briefly 2 years ago were so friendly and chatty towards us I couldn't have hoped for more. Ruan especially was great to us, inviting us around for a brai at his parents house, and even taking us to a traditional Afrikaans dance which we just wouldn't have done on our own.
Out last night in Cape Town before our flight early the next morning we went to say a final goodbye to all those people that made it extra special. We arrived back at 0345 and were due to leave for the airport at 0400! What a great night it was too. Christo had prepared some Indian treats to "get us ready" and we headed for the airport.
Saying bye to our forth mother of the trip Maureen was sad indeed. She was so kind to us and I shall hopefully see both her and Christo again soon since I shall miss them both.
Thank you Africa for an amazing time!!! I will be back!
