Last night we were invited to the British embassy to go and partake in a themed quiz night. The quiz was scottish themed. We lost and tom refused to do the dookin challenge because he had just put some creams on his face!! Haha
We net a few new people who were mostly teacher like the chap were staying with. They had all been away from the Uk for years traveling the world and working as teachers.. Average age of about 45.. Got some good information from them all.
Today we tried to get some sleep since we had a grand total of about 4 hours sleep in 2 days! The family however get up at 630 to get the kids ready for school... Tom got woken up by little Leo (4) who kept hitting him in the face!! Haha
After we got ourselves up and sorted at about 10 we headed up the large hill that overlooks the whole city. On the way we picked up an avocado, some bananas, water, tomato and bread. As we started up the hill the air was so thin tom was having a real pant on! He kept threatening to take his top off!!
Addis is already so high every step seemed harder but the view was getting better, so hard to know when to stop! We eventually did after we passed this church and it started to turn into thick forest.
We sat in the shade, I pulled out a knife and we began our feast. After while we got near the bottom where the red kites are everywhere! Like pigeons at home! Tom attempted to play football with some little kids who had made their own football from plastic bags and string. He got his legs in a twist and got beat! Two small boys followed us all the way back, only young but very suspicious looking. But honest enough, seemed like they just liked walking next to a couple of cream crackers! Haha
Tonight looks like we have burgers for tea!! Mmmmmm home made burgers!
Yesterday I was a bit nervous of everyone as your constantly being stared at and examined! But today after speaking about this and reading in various books, this is normal for addis. "all bite and no bark". I'm feeling much more relaxed today and as a result enjoying this place more and more. Although we dis get ripped off for a couple of orange juices.. £1 each!! Both of our lunches didn't come to half that!!
Looking forward to tomorrow going to help out a charity in morning then helping sports day in afternoon in andy's school.
