Sorry for the delay in update!
We have now moved onto newcastle as we have a place to stay here so its cheap!
Sydney was amazing, we walked around a lot. We ventured to manly beach (as we were all in need of a beach day) the second day we were in sydney! it was really nice but the weather wasnt great so didnt last too long!
We then met up with matt (another friend of the girls) who stayed with us in sydney. We walked about a lot (saw the opera house and harbour bridge which were beautiful)! think we average about 20km in walking every day! We also went to a war memorial which was really touching! After our venture around the city we went out to world bar with people from the hostel, where girls got two free drinks (one of them being champagne), it was absolutely rammed but still good, and got involved with the world bar tradition of shots out of a tea pot!!
We also ventured to the beautiful Bondi beach where the waves were massive and the sun was hot hot hot!
The day after bondi we walked around some more, matt did the harbour bridge climb whilst we nursed sore feet in macdonalds!!
Then came saturday, the day of the Mardi Gras festival! before the festival we were lucky enough to be invited to a friend of the family's house (thanks kiki!!!).So we went to Mosman bay with the ferry where we were met by phillip who drove us up to their house. Phillip and sylvia took very good care of us and we had a bbq which was the most food we had eaten in days as we are living off the free bread given in the hostel! SO we ate..a lot and had a swim and were then dropped off to take the ferry back for Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras is a massive gay and lesbian festival in sydney which is attended by about half a million people so it was hectic!! So we watched the parade for a littke bit but it was so hectic with people dressed up and puishing into us so we watched the rest of it from the hostel but it was good to experience!
On sunday we took the bus to newcastle and picked up from the station by Matts friend who was nice enough to let us stay at his house. So we are now in a village called Kurri Kurri where his house is. We were shown our beds and the bbq was swiftly turned on and had a few drinks (of goon) and just general banter. Today the weather isnt great so we have yet to make a plan on what to do as we were planning to go to the beach!
Not sure how long we are staying here but planning to go to byron bay and the gold coast for the surfing competition there which should be good!
Thats all for now, love and miss you all xxx
