We went for our first long drive in the van to kaikoura. The first night we camped in between the railway track and the cemetery and we were there for 2 minutes and Eli had already seen a seal called flippy and we also THOUGHT we saw whale but it was only a log and in the morning it was washed up.
Today we are in town and it's pouring down with rain! We bought some new ugg boots from the woolshed. Mine are the same size as mums! It is so wet we have to run back to the van! We quickly put the kettle on got the cake out and drunk our tea. Afterwards we went to the maori leap caves and an old man showed us around. He said that when they had just discoverd the cave a cow fell through the roof of the cave! It was ok though, they found it just standing in the dark! He showed us some stalagmites and stalagtites.
The rain has cleared now so we can go for a walk around the peninsula where we can see one of the new Zealand fur seal colony's I have got a piece of limestone which feels really nice. Eli and I climbed up a giant rock and we could see loads of seals, I even almost stood on one. For lunch we had savloys which are new Zealand hot dogs they're really nice. We went for a drive and found some more seals one was really hurt. We then went for a quick walk up a creek and found loads of baby seals flipping about under a waterfall, there was aboat thirty of them.
