Wednesday 8th June
I got up at 5:45 yesterday morning and went for a walk around the Grand Canyon. We left quite early to get on the road for Navajo national park. When we got there we stopped for lunch and went walk down to see over all the Navajo buildings. We then got back in the bus and drove to Monument Valley. The drive was amazing, so much beautiful sites. We went to the road where Forrest Gump was filmed and reacted the scene as a group. We then drove on to Monument Valley, we arrived at the visitor centre about 5pm and got picked up by the jeep tour at 5:30. The jeep tour was amazing! Absolutely loved it! He drove us down to see all the best sites of the monuments and we got to sit on a horse for a picture. Truly amazing! We drove about off-roading in the jeep for a while before stopping for dinner. We got fried bread with beans, veg and bbq'd steak. We got live entertainment there, amazing music and dancing. There was 7 boys then picked and 7 girls had to volunteer to go up with them. I keep saying to everyone on the trip 'it's better to regret doing something than regret not doing something' so they made me get up and do it. So I had to pick one of the boys, I ended up with a boy who was doing a different trek America trip - same tour as me but in reverse. So we had to do all this funny dancing and then had a 10 second freestyle dance in the middle of the circle so we gave it everything. It was so good, so much fun! Everyone with a birthday in July was then called up and of course that was me again. So we all had to stand there while everyone sang happy birthday to us then we got a well wish birthday bracelet. The boys had to wear theirs on their left hand and girls on their right.. Because women are always right! The whole entertainment that night was just amazing! We then drove on to where we were staying. We had the choice of staying in a hogan or sleep outside under the stars. The hogans were amazing but we decided to sleep outside. It was such a good experience. We lay and watched the stars for a while and then fell asleep. I woke up at 1:30 because it was really windy, lots of our stuff had blown away but we found it all in the morning. Between the helicopter over the Grand Canyon and the jeep tour/overnight stay at monument valley it really was the 2 best days of the trip so far!
