The hitchhike down brings us to the old German incestual town of Laidley, where the sun is hot and the thunderstorms ferocious. Home is a caravan, furnished with the bare necessities, but we soon had it looking like India had thrown up on it. Morning in Laidley brought the Rainbow Lorikeets singing and chirping while dusk meant the bats gregariously moved through the clouds of the setting sun.
Frugal living meant a diet of noodles and banana pancakes, entertainment in the form of card games and a lot of op shopping to past the time.
A car was a necessary tool in our quest to conquer the rest of Australia, so we brought a jeep, Pedro. Well equipt with all the camping paraphernalia we could need.
Bean sorting was repetitive, tedious and mind numbingly boring and no early morning start came without the obligatory rant from Nanna vowing that this was 'the worst job she had EVER had'. But, we did manage to save some money so we could make our way down the east coast back to Sydney.
