The beautiful Scandinavian country that is Norway. We stayed in the trendy Grunerlokka. Where beards, doc martins and top knots saturate the coffee shops, bars and markets.
Although not a country particularly well renowned for their food, Charlie and I were never disappointed. Delighting our palettes with some great middle eastern food and one of the best pizzas we've ever eaten. The beer was good too.
The people were friendly, their English at times better than ours, and the weather cold, crisp, sunny and snowy.
The transport system was efficient, on time and clean, pretty much like the whole of Oslo and everyone in it. We went to check out the ski museum....well we went to go in but just looked at the ski jump instead.
That night we sat through 'I am the greatest' at the opera house, which was a brilliant performance about Muhammad Ali's life. A small theatre production by Nordic black and it really blew us away.
The final day the snow fell thick and fast. We walked along the river and over the fairy tale bridge. As the sun set we walked through Vigeland park where sculptures were the main attraction- some more lascivious than others-from a sculpture named Gustav Vigeland.
We wrapped up the trip with a drink in a bar around the area that used to be the place where all the punks set up camp and squatted in the nearby buildings, it would have been a very swift visit at £6 a pint, had it not been for the infectious music.
It wouldn't be a trip with Charlie and becky if we hadn't almost missed the flight. Typical
