It's day 11 of our trip and we are in Rome! At the risk of sounding repetitive we have had yet another brilliant day! We went to the Vatican City this morning and saw the cistine chapel and then we did a tour of the colliseum this afternoon! The best thing we have done at all these places is book in advance on line - so no queuing! The tour of the colliseum was also fabulous - we would definitely recommend it - you get special access to the tunnels underneath ...

We survived our overnight train journey and arrived in Milan this morning. The apartment we're staying in is great - just 2 minutes from the Duomo and we've already walked the 250 steps to the top (as counted by Eliza!) What a view! It's just glorious here. The weather is hot and the buildings are spectacular. As you can see we've been in The Galleria and I have to confess to a bit of fashionista window shopping! Well who would have thought that this tiny suburb of stuttgart could be so cool?!? The kids slept in a car last night at the V8 Hotel in a cinema themed room (Martin and I slept on single beds in the corner!!) and we all loved it! It turns out that the warehouse next door holds one of the most impressive collections of classic and modern cars ever - so Hugo and Martin were in heaven! We are on the train between Amsterdam and Stuttgart (having changed in Duisberg) and it's packed - Thank goodness for reserved seats! There is a child sitting opposite me wearing a Tshirt that says "I have a strong will ... And an even stronger won't" and for some reason I think Eliza should be wearing it! This is Eliza. So far we are staying in a house boat I hope I don't fall in. This morning we had waffles for breakfast and mum dad and hugo all had Nutella but I had cream. And whilst we were carrying them my cream was melting and I was eating creamy mush well it's better than nothing. It's our last day we had just finished breakfast Hope to see you soon Eliza
