It's day 11 of our trip and we are in Rome!
At the risk of sounding repetitive we have had yet another brilliant day!
We went to the Vatican City this morning and saw the cistine chapel and then we did a tour of the colliseum this afternoon!
The best thing we have done at all these places is book in advance on line - so no queuing! The tour of the colliseum was also fabulous - we would definitely recommend it - you get special access to the tunnels underneath where we walked the walk of the gladiators and then we went up to the 3rd level and got the most amazing view!
The only surprise today was the rain! Hard to believe in August but we had rain, thunder and lightning! Fortunately it's stopped now so after a quick "chillax" back at the hotel we're going out for dinner near the Pantheon.
The hotel in Rome is a minute from the Spanish steps and 10 minutes walk from the pantheon. We are surrounded by luxury shops and amazing architecture. We couldn't be better located!
This is really turning out to be the holiday of a lifetime!
