We spent three weeks working really hard on Zephia in hot and humid Indiantown Florida. We did a bottom job, painted a new boot stripe, replaced parts of the standing rigging, made all new canvaswork, and waxed and polished her.
So now its really great to be out anchored and simply chilling! We'll be here in Stuart for a week or so. We still have a few more things to take care of and need to do some more provisioning before we go to the Bahamas.
We will be sailing down to Miami and will wait there for a weather window to cross over to the Bahamas. We'll sail from Fowey Rocks, off Key Biscayne, to Bimini. Its just 43 miles from Fowey Rocks to Bimini, so we won't be spending too much time in the Gulf Stream. We'll anchor outside of No Name Harbor at Key Biscayne and will leave around 4 AM. We should get to Bimini around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
We'll wait for a weather window where the winds the day before are 15 knots or less out of the south east. And the the forecast for the day we are leaving are out of the south at 15 knots or less and the forecast for the next day is for winds out of the south-southwest at no more than 15-20 knots.
We're excited to go to the Bahamas. Our plan is to try to get to the Dominican Republic by May.
