We have had a lovely relaxing couple of days, with some short strolls through the 10 acres surrounding the Gite, and lots of playing in the pool.
Every morning Geoff has been into one of the local towns to buy bread and pastries for breakfast. On Monday we went to St Maurin (an 11th century town), yesterday he went into Puymirol a 12th century Bastide. Today we all went into the markets at Valence D'Agen to buy some fresh local fruit and veges. On the way home we stopped to walk through another 13th century Bastide nearby, Montjoi. It was a very pretty little fortified town on top of a hill. The are over 300 similar Bastide or hilltop fortified towns in the South West of France built by either the English or the French to keep each other out during the 12th and 13th centuries.
