Three weeks have passed since my previous entry, filled mostly with work and preparing to leave my fantastic home in South Yarra. Damien's girlfriend Chiara has regularly spoiled us with various Taiwanese meals. One thing about being away in Australia - the range of food I have tasted and eaten has greatly increased!
The guys have started their search for a replacement housemate for when I leave. Seeing the candidates come round, I find myself rather jealous of them, knowing just how awesome a house they are about to move into. Damien and Kris have been fantastic housemates, and South Yarra had become a great home for me.
On the 13th May Damien took me to see my first AFL game at the Ethiad stadium in the Docklands. Damien is a massive North Melbourne fan, and goes weekly with his father to see them play. He invited me to see North Melbourne vs the Western Bulldogs.
We arrived at the stadium just as a downpour started. Melbourne weather has really started to deteriate in the last 2 weeks, with it feeling more and more like the british weather that I am used to. As the rain came down, the stadium roof closed over and we took up our seats.
The game was fantastic to watch, and another sport to add to my list of different sports that I had never experienced properly before coming to Australia. The best way I can describe it is like a clumsy man's rugby, but with far less phyiscal contact. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the game, but unfortunately North Melbourne lost. Oh well!
Two days later and the time had finally arrived to head off from my home in South Yarra. Myself, Damien, Kris and Gen had one last Pizza at the Lucky Coq to say goodbye, before I headed back and cleaned my room one last time. The next day I set off for two weeks with Tom and Gill, intending to do plenty work and save up some money before heading to Brisbane.
I will miss living in Melbourne, It has been a fantastic place - I have really enjoyed living here and the place is amazing.
