Today was the day to become more religious and find god. So off we went towards the Vatican. First place we went to was the vatican museum and most importantly was the Sistine chapel. We hurriedly skipped through the museum, because really, how many busts of people you don't know or never heard of can you look at. Painting after painting sculpture after sculpture, they all look the same to me. So we arrived at the chapel and took photos of the famous (insert name here, because I have no idea what it's called, I just know its what everyone goes to see). Perhaps I should learn what it is, but screw it I'm on holiday, who's got time to learn. After that was all done, we headed to St.Peters square too see what that was all about. Well we stood in line for over an hour, passed through security, and were literally at the front door, just to be turned away because Catherine wasn't properly dressed. Turns out they still abide by century old rules pertained to women being covered on their shoulders and below their knees. Turns out a shoulder or a knee cap gives the man in cloth a chubby after all these years. What a stupid out of date rule, another reason for me to hate on the church. So instead of buying appropriate clothing, we said f*** it and got something to eat.
We finally found a restaurant where they served gluten free pizzas, thus Catherine was happy and I was relieved we could eat in peace. For the record pizza with gluten in it still taste better to me, but for Catherine's bowels it would be the latter.
From there we wandered the streets seeing more of Rome's sights and sounds. While naturally eating more of its gelato and paying 1€ for bottle water, whenever we fell out of Rome's naturally shaded areas. We then checked out what platform our train tomorrow will be leaving from, in order to catch our 6:50 departure time, yikes to that. But Venice for the day is next, followed by our night train to Paris. So it should be a busy 30 hours for us, for we will be arriving in Paris at 9:30 in the morning. So until the next blog.
Ps I have started a new album on Facebook about people I can't stand. Try to guess what that new annoyance is beforehand if you can?
