Updating this after a long break (not my fault! the dodgy compters..honest!). We loved San Christobal, a beautoful colonial city full of brightly coloured houses, flowers, music and dancing. Spent a few days wandering the city and visiting museums - Museum of Mayan Medecine very intetresting, life size sculptures of people all around it quite unnerving, Museum of Jade very interesting even though all the origional objects were in Austria/ London/ New York. Food and bars great, met up with Asaf and Adi the Israeli honeymooners whom we met in Palenque. Went to the Sumidero Canyon, another stunning place, and stared in to the mouths of wild crocs and at starnge algae formations in the shape of Christmas trees and seahorses. Visited Tuxtla Zoo, begun by the Mexican David Atenborough and claiming to have one of every species in Chiapas, and got very worried by the large numbers of venemous spiders and snakes in this country...
