Ian & Claire's Adventure
After a coach and Train ride we arrived in melbourne, we managed to get on a tram, fail to work out the ticket cost as we had no change and arrived at our hostel in St Kilda, a seaside little suburb, slightly concerned by the fact it was in the red light district but the place was great, friendly, big kitchen, big sitting room etc
That night we couldn't be bothered to cook so we ate at the buzzing Hare Krishna (pay by donation) Lentil as Anything restaurant run by a lanky character who thought he could play jazz trumpet. We had a great curry platter for 3. We stopped for a beer on the way back and witnessed the tru aussy tradition of the Dance-off, to a semi-pro standard.
The next day we went to the infamous Victoria market. It was packed and full of the ususal fruit, veg and tatt. We went back to the eveinging market on the wednesday which was fantastic. There was live music outside and great food. We had Croc burgers, emu and roo steaks between us. The rest of the market was full of cool international stuff.
The next few days we spent at the excellent Indiginous art gellery and souvinier shopping in melbourne and at the beach in St. Kilda. We dropped into the Luna park by the beach but decided not to risk our lives by going on the wooden rollercoaster. We opted for a go on the nascar sim in the arcade to win Claire a Nemo toy.
The weather was everything between roasting hot (Gerraldine got burnt) to cold. Strange.
