The next morning we awoke to bird noises and opened the van to see about 20 Gallar parrots (grey with a pretty pink head) and some noisy jackdaw type birds, and some huge grouse all next to the van. We set off for the outback. The rainforest and rain was left for a dry, arid, red earthed landscape with termite mounds all over. The road soon lost its asphalt and we were soon worried for the van. We drove further up into the tropical north to Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the beach. It was a lovely drive up but persisting it down so we went to Dragonfly café for a latte and then to PK's for a beer and watched the rain bucket down.
