Our stop here was recommended by other travelers. It is half way between Scottsdale and Launceston. Wow, it did not disappoint! This area is HUGE! Grassy area covering a very large area with the river flowing around it. Camp sites are $6 a night, (no water or power), and the sites are gigantic. Our site was right beside a fast flowing river over rocks which made it absolutely blissful. They had toilets and hot showers and the washing was done thanks to a key that unlocks the power to the washing machine which meant while we had the key we could continue to put more loads on. We got all of our washing done for $4, cant complain about that. The area is so picturesque with mountains surrounding us. Gorgeous place.
We unhooked the van and drove into Launceston but the place is so big, I couldn't wait to get out! We had a couple of things to do there, fill gas bottle etc.
As Scottsdale was only 32km away, we hitched up the next day and headed there to check out solar panels for the van. We had been enquiring for some time and a fellow traveler recommended a man in Scottsdale. He was very helpful and we ended up purchasing our solar panels. They are not attached to the van, we prop them up outside following the sun. It was the cheapest way to do it for us at the moment and we could then ascertain if they meet out needs. So far so good. Power going into battery is great.
We have been out of range for phone and internet signals for a couple of days, and even as I am typing this it is a very week signal on my pc. We are currently at Cosy Corner, in the Bay of Fires, on the east coast near St Helens. I will have to upload photos at a later date as the signal is not powerful enough.
