Day 4: 22 Nov 13 - Hong Kong
It was a fast-paced morning as the kids got out of bed and rushed themselves ready to catch Mickey Mouse at the hotel's breakfast venue by the name of Chef Mickey as we were told by the hotel staff that Mickey only appeared at an appointed time ie 8am.
By 8am, we were all seated at the cafe. The spread was pretty wide - international style. Midway through our breakfast, Mickey came out and suddenly, you could feel excitement in the place especially from all the kids who were waiting in anticipation to take pictures with Mickey. Expectantly, our nephews and niece couldn't wait till their turn arrived and they were overjoyed to be able to take pictures with Mickey and to see him in such close proximity.
After breakfast, we went back to our room. As the check-out time was at noon, we had ample time to kill. I caught a game of NBA basketball and even managed to rest for about 20 minutes before we checked out of the hotel. We then took a cab to Kowloon. The ride was fast and smooth.
Upon arrival at Marco Polo Hongkong hotel, we went for lunch at its nearby cafe as the rooms were not available for checking in as yet. We waited till about 4pm before the room was finally ready. I managed to take a short nap before dinner.
My father-in-law joined us on this day. We had our dinner at this one-starred Michelin Chinese restaurant at Intercontinental. The food was, without a doubt, superb.
After dinner, we caught the laser-like show near Avenue of Stars. It was only a brief one and after that, we had thought of taking a slow walk along the promenade but gave up the idea when we realised the potential jostle with the daunting crowd.
We headed back to the hotel and on its way, we had mango desserts at the well-known 许留山, which made a perfect ending to the night.
