Day 3: 21 Nov 13 - Hong Kong Disney
We spent a full day at the magical land. Breakfast was a niggardly affair of hot dog bread because it was the last thing in the mind of the children's conquest of the entire Disneyland park.
We started out with photo taking with the Donald Duck mascots. While in the queue, we met this disgruntled man who couldn't stop complaining and he even deliberately shoved his way. Basically, the Loh's family were in line first but we joined in the queue later, to the dismay of the man. Anyway, we ignored his remarks and when it was our turn, we took pictures with the cute Donald Ducks and walked on.
Next was "It's a small world ride". Safe and kid-friendly that even Le Le took the ride. It was a pleasant ride where we saw many different nationalities of big and small characters donning their cultural costumes and even the musical style of the song "It's a small world" changed accordingly.
Ooh... and we saw Cinderella. It was Mei's favourite. The ladies queued and waited for their turn to take a picture with her. Mei even put on her Cinderella's gown. When it was Mei's turn, the gorgeous Cinderella uttered something to Mei. When Mei was done, I asked Emma (together with sis who also took picture with Cinderella) what was being said to Mei, to which she replied,"My twin, do we share the same fairy godmother?" Haha. I was just so amused by how Cinderella actually rehearsed so well in response to her ardent fan. It was Mei's dream come true.
Next, we caught a spectacular show. It was a mix of some Disney characters, put together to perform an enchanting musical-like show. It was so impressive when the characters danced and sang. At one point when they did Beauty and the beast, I felt so nostalgic because it was the song (and the show) that I grew up with. The show lasted forty five minutes but none of the segment felt boring. I was totally captivated from the beginning till the end of the show.
Lunch break; we settled it at one of its food corner. Simple and nice. And off we went to the Grizzly Gulch. Jet has been crazy about it and we were best of buddies as we conquered the mine car ride. The coaster ride took us in a turbulent fashion but to us, the effect was bearable, partly because it started slow, with the effect felt only towards the last few parts of the ride. We took it twice because the thrill was just so safe.
It was Tomorrowland next. And the first ride that Jet and I took was its signature Space Mountain. It was indoor roller coaster which spun and turned at the craziest speed. It was our favourites because the thrill lasted throughout the ride and the adrenaline rush lingered.
And we took a few other rides within Tomorrowland and also took picture with Buzz Lightyear. One of the ride that I quite enjoyed was "Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters". It was shooting targets with laser-like guns throughout the ride and though it certainly was just the use of effects, the experience felt pretty real.
We dined at one of the best restaurant within Disneyland park. It served Chinese food and each dish tasted very good. A great choice to end our adventure at Disneyland.
After dinner, we shopped around for gifts. Then, we picked a particular spot to watch the night show again (this time from a different view). About midway through the show, Hannah was tired and we reckoned that it'd be best to leave and head back to the hotel before the show finished. Otherwise, when the show ends and the crowd disperses at the same time, we couldn't imagine how we'd manage the kids (if they were to all fall asleep).
As we walked towards the bus terminal, we turned back periodically to still try to catch the fireworks that brightened up the night sky. The fact is: The magical feeling is over when the last shot of fireworks faded. We boarded the bus - exhausted but nonetheless happy - and bade farewell to this experience of otherworldliness.
