We had a further two days in Eden. Enjoyed a trip to the Whale Museum and spent the other day on a beautiful secluded beach where the boys did their first spot of fishing. Archie's line looked more like a bowl of noodles, rather than a fishing rod and Roy's patience was wearing thin. While Max took his job quite seriously (no surprise there) he did feel a little disappointed that he didn't catch anything.
After a short drive from Eden (90k) we arrived at our next stop, Ben Boyd National Park (I told Roy if we continue at this pace we may be back in Sydney in about two or three years). The boys were craving another campfire and Roy was looking forward to getting his kayak back in the water.
There was hardly anyone camping in the National Park, thanks to the end of the school holiday season. To the boys delight Ben Boyd National Park was full of goannas and kangaroos. I continued to wrestle with my snake/lizard phobia but can now atleast walk around by myself.
Another 90kms today, including a boarder crossing and we arrived in Mallacoota, Victoria. Max refers to our drives as "short cuts" and keeps asking roy "...why are we doing all these short cuts". Little does he know that sometime in the future we will need to do a long driving day, then there will be something to complain about.
Spent the afternoon at Betka beach. The boys had a great time swimming in the waves. We will probably take the boogy boards and kayak back tomorrow (as there is a fantastic inlet just off the beach).
Had a night off cooking and went to a delicious noodle bar. The boys hoovered up the pork dumplings, so I expect we will be back there again before we leave here.
