Hogarth Adventures!
Day 5 - August 3rd 2008, 3.14pm UK time (8.14am Belize time!) - The grand arrival of a new addition to the Hogarth/ Dolphin family - Madison India! We'd decided to stay on the island another day, with Sasha going into the first stages of labour the day before it felt right to wait around in the hope that today would be the day plus neither of us felt like leaving this chilled lifestyle yet. At about 8.30am we were woken by the owners young boy banging on our door shouting 'baby baby baby, the baby is here!' Half asleep but very excited we thanked them for letting us know and almost ran to the first phone box we could find that worked along the beach to find out the news beaming from ear to ear! On getting through to Pauline/mum, the story was slightly different in that communication over the phone had been a tad difficult with the belizian owner and it turned out that the baby hadn't arrived yet but that Sasha had gone into labour in the early hours! The hospital said 'news will be soon' so abit confused but excited we walked back ready to ring again in 4 hours when Pauline and Barry had reached Solihull. Anyway that turned out to be too long to bear so Ads went to check e-mail again then decided to chance his luck and ring Solihull hospital just in time for him to put straight through to newly proud dad Andrew to hear that a niece had been born at 3.14pm, UK time, 7 pounds 12 ounces, and that mother/sis Sasha and Ads new niece Madison India were all doing well. Wow! Not going into detail but lots of tears were had that day as you can imagine, it was such fantastic news but at the same time you just want to fly back home and be there....knowing that was impossible, a beer that eve to wet the babys head was had to make up for it. Such amazing news, BIG CONGRATS again Sasha and Andrew and also to the first time gramps and granny Hogarth! The rest of the day abit dazed by the news we met Chika and Travis for lunch then at the end of the meal our beautiful island blackened suddenly the wind howled and the heavens literally opened, for another hour it just tipped it down! Chilling some more watching the rain from our hammock we then phoned home again to see how Sasha and Madison were doing, all was well, Madison was beautiful and had a full head of dark hair already! Again more emotion followed by an attempt to see a non existing sunset, then our final dinner with Travis and Chika. Saying goodbye to these guys was hard but we know for sure we will meet up again, that's the beauty of travelling it just makes you want to travel more not only to see more places but to meet back up with all those wonderful people who have made your dream even more amazing.... That night, Sandy and James freed the local dog then after watching it jumping around with glee we all went to bed happy that the poor thing was no longer tied up! Not the best nights sleep as a huge storm raged through the night, deafening thunder the loudest we had ever heard was above us, cracks of lightening and torrential rain, god knows how we didn't get swept away by flash floods or hurricanes that night it was a tad scary even in Ads eyes! What a great day though, Ads now a proud uncle , Sasha & Andrew proud parents and Pauline and Barry now Nanny and Grumps a day to remember for all! Good night and sleep tight Madison, we will see you in Dec xx
