I slept pretty well considering. I awoke to rain on the window so I knew I was in for a great ride today. I packed up my stuff and then headed to load up the bike. My intention was to bid adieu to Ten Ton Tessa today so I had to make sure that I strapped everything on to the bike well. Thirty minutes later I rode out of Bratislava a free woman. I left the trailer for whoever wanted it.
I easily found my way out of the city today and onto a track that took me mainly along the river. It rained hard. As I got further away from the city the river widened and the path was smooth. The Danube got really wide at one point just before an area called "Horńy Bar". All day I cycled along the border on the Slovakian side. The rain didn't really let up all day and at one point it got quite chilly.
I passed one person all day, during 110km. Getting pretty lonesome out here. Anyway, I made good time into Komarńo and was thoroughly glad that I had ditched the trailer when I did as I had to ride through gates all afternoon long which would have been impossible with TTT in tow.
As I said I am staying in Komarńo which is still in Slovakia, across the bridge there is Komárom in Hungary. The city was divided just after WW1 and is connected by the 'Friendship Bridge'. Tomorrow I will be riding over said bridge and into Hungary on my way to Esztergom "The Rome of Hungary" and also the former capital of Hungary many years ago.
Oh and ice cream is only 40c a scoop here!!!!!
