I slept wonderfully :-) I knew I would as soon as I had walked into my room cos there was a dark blind. Today I would be crossing over the border and into Hungary,my fourth country of the tour. Should have been an easy ride but over confident rode off in a blaze of fire only to have map upside down and therefore in the wrong bloody direction. I quite rightly told my self off for being a total t*** cos it meant that I did 20km extra - yes I was that confident :-).
Once back on the right track the route went mainly along the road, in fact I'm not sure I saw the river the whole way. Even though I made the earlier mistake I made it into Esztergom in good time and was therefore able to find somewhere to sleep and do some sight-seeing. I grabbed some delicious ice cream before heading UP to the cathedral. I think I must be some sort of sadist cos I always seem to find the worst ways to get to somewhere. After climbing what seemed like an eternity of steps I arrived at the cathedral. Fantastic views of Hungary and Slovakia were to be had. I went in the cathedral and visited the crypt which was lovely and cold, and the treasury which was bloody hot. There was a wedding going on at the time I was visiting, no comment.
After the visit I was starving and therefore made my way to a great place to eat where I had knuckle of ham and potatoes with a spicy mustard sauce, it was delicious.
When I went back to the hostel some Dutch people had arrived. Had a quick chat and then headed off and proceded to watch Beethoven in Magyar.
