Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
Day 24 Fri 2 Jun 16, Adelaide, 7 to 18 deg, fine in the morning, cloudy but fine in the afternoon. Brisk, crisp and clear this morning on my walk with no indication that it was going to get a bit gloomy in the afternoon. Downed a hot brekky and headed for the beach on the bike. After I got to the city I followed the Torrens to West Beach cycleway, turned right at the ocean and stopped at Henley Beach a few ks up the path. The ride from the city is completely off road on a great bike/walk path. Along the way there's fantastic facilities for kids and big-kids. At Henley Beach the local council has done a sterling job transforming a fairly ordinary beach front into a real happening place. The paths, grassed areas, seating, the pier and eateries are just lovely. Been coming here for years and it's at its best. After a coffee and some BYO snacks I headed to Glenelg Beach. A bit more touristy and busy, but just the same great facilities and good access to the beach. Too darn cold for this soft Qlder, stayed well away from the cold looking water. It was about this time that the sun went AWOL; time for me to head home. Took a slightly different route home but on a bike path for most of the way. 60km round trip. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing a spot of shopping and cleaning/tidying the van for Wendy's homecoming tonight.
