Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
18-24 degC, overcast and windy to sunny and windy After breakfast, we all headed out to Port Adelaide for the boys to partake in a kayak around Garden Island. It was not a very nice day - very windy and quit chilly. However, Greg and Gunther went out with Simon and Fee and four of their mates. Wendy and Yvonne stayed behind and guarded the vehicles. Unfortunately, Gunther's back, which had been getting better, started to show signs of stress, so he turned back just before the half way mark. The kayaker only stated out at 10:45am and were expected back after about two hours. We then had to load the kayaks onto the vehicles, change clothes and make our way to the Birkenhead Tavern for lunch. After lunch we drove around to Port Adelaide and had a short wander. We specifically went to see the "City of Adelaide", a clipper ship built in 1864 in the UK as a passenger and cargo ship. She went through a number of changes of cargo and one name change before being moved to Sth Aus and slowly being restored. We were here six months ago and the restoration process seems to be a very slow process. It was then home to sort out bikes, awnings, washing (take it off the line), and dinner. Pre-dinner drinks were had and then dinner was had and then bed.
