We decided to head to the beach today as it was one of the touristy activities we'd planned to do in our time in Melbourne. Hopped on a train to Flinders street then walked up to jump on a tram. 15 minutes later we arrived at St Kilda. It was a bit cloudy and chilly in the wind but we grabbed a hot chocolate and some lunch before doing a nice walk up the pier and along the beach. Apparently little penguins inhabit the rocks by the pier but we didn't see any unfortunately as they only come out at dusk or dawn, also big water rats made this their home- I was quite ok not seeing these! Quite a few people were in the water doing watersports activities, I was a bit worried about sharks being around but they didn't seem fussed! We got back to melbourne central grabbed some bits for tea and picked up the train back to ascot vale. We had to say bye to Steph and Jay tonight as they were heading to Stephs mums for the weekend, goodbyes aren't nice! They very kindly let us stay the night even though they were heading off! We'd been looking for a hostel and they weren't having any of it, really helped us out a lot!
