Another travel day, this time from Nice to Villeneuve de Avignon, a small village just across the Rhone river from Avignon. Our hotel room in Nice was smaller than on the cruise ship and the shower had no enclosure, so it was tough to keep the bathroom from flooding when we showered, but we survived. Today was a travel day. Left Radda at 6:00 am and drove about 3 hours north to Genoa, mostly on the Autostrada (18 Euro toll charge!). In Genoa we dropped the car at Hertz and determined that there are two train stations in Genoa, and ours was the further away one, so we squeezed into a cab for a 15 min. ride. Today we visited Siena, the other "must see" in Tuscany besides Florence. The Piazza and the Duomo were as spectacular as we remembered them from 3 years ago. Today was Sunday so we decided to make it a day of rest (from sightseeing). Jim went to Mass at the Duomo next door to our hotel, but Sherry and I slept in a little longer.
